Everything is on the track. Your website is well-designed and it has been submitted and listed by search engines and directories. But, there is still something missing. Your website being listed by search engines and directories does not indicate that your website will be visited by a lot of visitors. Thus, the next step is to direct the traffic into your website. This is one of the ways to increase your search engine ranking.

There are a number of commonly used methods to increase the amount of traffic into your website, apart from the design of your website.

1) Free service - everyone is interested when they hear the word 'free'. Thus, offering a free service or trial to promote your product or service. If you are selling a product, you can try giving out samples for a limited time. This will not only promote your website to the people, but it also works to promote your product as well as gaining trust from people who have used your product.

2) Paying for traffic - for those who have a budget to spend, paying for traffic is another way to increase the traffic. There are search engines that charge a small amount of fee for a targeted traffic. It is one of the highly effective methods for receiving targeted traffic.

3) Affiliate program - having affiliate program is particularly helpful if you are selling a product or service. This can improve your sales and provide a huge number of links to your website.

4) Networking - making friends with other website owners can help to drive more traffic into your website. Partnerships are useful relationships, as long as it is not a competitor. The partners can be in the similar field, but not directly competing with you. This works by providing links to one another to direct the traffic to the partners. However, only work with trustable partners as it can affect the reputation of your website.

5) Articles - writing articles to be published in other websites are a way to promote your website. The best approach by writing articles is by writing informative articles and indirectly includes your products and contacts in the articles without obvious sales promotion. People are more interested in gaining knowledge and finding solutions to existing problems rather than promoting products and services.

6) Contests - this is a useful method to improve traffic into your website, especially when there are prizes offered. This way, you will not only be collecting feedbacks from the visitors, you will be gathering information from existing and potential customers about their needs and opinions.

7) Offline promotions - this method includes anything that has the information about your website and is used without the Internet such as stickers, magnetic signs and logos. You can either use your own money or get sponsors to print these promotional items.

You still cannot relax even if your website has been listed by search engines and directories. The listing does not guarantee that your website has visitors because this is influenced by the ranking of your website. The rank is determined primarily by the amount of traffic into your website. Thus, there is still work to do and the above promotional methods are helpful towards increasing the number of visitors to your website.

More than 50 % of surfers look for information on the Net by keying in certain search words. When the key words in your article match their searches your article is listed among others by the search engine.

2. Article Distribution: You select from you articles and submit your popular ones to article directories. For each article that you submit you add, at the end of the article, the URL of your site and also the URL of the original article.
When you do these, you comply with Google's advise so that the crawler will know where the original article is and also there is no duplication of content. Secondly, you build two backlinks to your site. One is directly linking to your front page and another one is linking to the article page.

3. Social Bookmarking: This is another excellent way to build traffic to your site. When your article is bookmarked, readers will have to click the link at the bookmarking site in order to go to your site to read the full story. 6. Forums: Participation in forums discussing about subjects relating to your blog posts is also a good way to send traffic to your site because you provide a URL link to your site at your signature panel.

7. Comments: Just like forums when you make comments on other sites you also leave a one-way backlink to your site. When you share a common interest with the site that you have commented you are also prompting the blog owner to visit your site.

A recent conversation with a friend led us into a discussion about the number of new people starting an online business. The discussion turned toward the numerous ways that one can and should begin with little or no money to make money online. It's surprising how many people out there wanting to make money still don't have a website. The first thing I did when I started online was begin with a free blog. I went to blogger.com and set up a free blog showcasing and branding me and my (limited at that time) knowledge about internet marketing.

Blogs are very effective for the following reasons:

• You can establish yourself as an expert

• To promote affiliate offers or your own products

• To Build a following (or you may know it as building a list)

• To make money through recommendations and/or advertising

• Easy to add fresh content easily

• Get high rankings in the search engines that you need for exposure

• Blog about a topic you enjoy

These are just a few reasons why blogs are becoming so popular.

Here are some common MISTAKES that bloggers make that can lead to failure:

• You don't have a targeted theme, in other words, choose a specific topic

• You don't update your blog often. We, as humans, love fresh and relevant content...

So do the search engines!

How To Use Your Ezine To Drive Web Traffic - 4 Tips

One primary purpose of most ezines is to drive traffic to a website or multiple websites. The ezine publisher might not know this yet or even disagree with this statement, but when they enter their prime, they will know it as a golden truth.

You might say that I'm biased because that's one of my primary purposes for my ezines -- to drive ad revenue, but think of any ezine publisher or email marketer that wants to sell a physical or electronic product:

Unless they are putting in a BUY IT NOW link that goes directly to PayPal or their shopping cart program, their job is to get the ezine subscriber to stop reading the ezine and come to a website. It's part of the order flow…part of the sales or lead generation process.

If you agree with me that the purpose of an ezine is to drive traffic to a website, then how do you answer this question:

If you put an entire article in the body of your ezine, what reason do you give your ezine subscriber to visit your website?

They have already gotten the cow and the milk. There is nothing left to buy. Your article opened up a problem and solved it. Most likely, it pleased your audience and you achieved subscription growth and happy list members…but only a few sales or a fraction of the potential that you could receive.

Most readers want the full article and some are even insulted if you require them to click on a link for the full article.

PAID EZINE PUBLISHERS:
If your ezine is a paid ezine (meaning you charge a subscription fee for it), then I recommend that you put the full article in the body of the ezine. You've already gotten paid. You could still give them a link to "more related resources" to the primary article, but should give them immediate value without requiring them to click to get access to it.

FREE EZINE PUBLISHERS:
If your ezine is free, then consider every time a member clicks on a link that sends them to a website as payment for the free expert content you gave them.

4 Tips To Leverage Your Ezine's Traffic Building Power:

#1 Send article summaries that are 1-2 paragraph teasers as to the benefits that they will receive if they click on the links to the full summary. Include a link under the summary to the full article.

#2) Supplement your full articles (if you must still send them) with a case study or client testimonial teaser summary that links to the full case study results or testimonial. This strategy allows you to do the full article but add a chance for increased click through to your website.

#3) Bold or make it easy to see which link to click to get to the full article. I've tested this and with the rise in anti-spam software & hardware filters, it's best to include a valid URL in the link so that folks who don't see an active link can copy and paste the URL if you are sending it via HTML.

Example: If I wanted to give an article summary teaser to this article, I'd include the first two paragraphs of the full article (or rewrite them to be more benefit oriented) and then include a link to this URL in my HTML newsletter body:
http://EmailUniverse.com/ezine-tips/?id=1271
Bonus note: I've tested including an instant web link to forward an article to a friend and this has failed for me. My research has shown that an email subscriber will not forward an article to a friend until after they have read the full web article… but, they will forward your entire ezine to a friend whether they read the article or not.

#4) Prep your members as to what to expect in the next issue. Build demand for yourself and you'll find your members are more receptive to clicking on your links if it's related or relevant to their current needs.

Ezine Traffic Building Conclusion:

As you can see, there are varying degrees as to how much you give before you require a link back to a website you control or an affiliate link. While we all want happy email list members that tell all of their friends, we also want to convert those members to happy paying customers for our products, services or enhancing ad revenue. If we don't, we are doing a dis-service to them in the long-run because without additional revenue, you will not be able to enhance your offerings to them in the future!

In fact, you don't have a right to deny your email list members from the benefits your website can deliver them once they land on your website from a link in your ezine. Consider testing this strategy in your next series of email newsletter issues and let me know how it works out for you. :-)

Register at places like Amazon and Epinions to make your opinion count while getting some valuable traffic to your own site.

Obviously, you shouldn't try to sell your product or service in the review itself, but you can let people know what you do without a sales pitch. For example:

Above all, make sure you have something interesting, unique or helpful to share -- no one wants to waste time reading a sales pitch or some vague tips that don't have examples to share.

Traffic Secrets - 3 Ways This Little Method Can Explode Your Traffic

Articles are used by the knowledgeable online marketers, because they work in many different ways to increase your website traffic. Let's take a quick look at just 3 of those ways...

Firstly, when you submit your articles to article directories, there are particular ones that are popular with the search engines. This means a properly constructed article can get a page 1 ranking for a tightly defined keyword phrase, which puts you right in front of targeted traffic who are looking for what you offer!

The best article sites to use are those that manually approve their articles before they include them. Google loves this quality control, rewards the directory site for it, and you along with it! The 'big Daddy' of article sites is ezinearticles.com.

They will reject your article if it doesn't meet their standards, although I have had personal experience that if you ask them what is wrong, they quite happily tell you, and then approve it once you've made the corrections.

Directories

Many people write about how good directories are for getting traffic. However, these days for the most part this isn't true. There are a few gems out there that if you submit to them will reward you with extra traffic, the most part though directories are best utilised for SEO purposes.

Social bookmarking Sites

These sites can be an excellent way to increase hits, with sites like StumbleUpon and Dig, if used properly can see great increase in your traffic. This technique does need time spent on it and you need to submit quality information to them.

The thing I find with these things is if you're prepared to give something you will get something back. If you website doesn't have nothing of value on it then you don't deserve traffic, simple as that.
